Lisa Snow Lady
2021 Awardee
Seattle native Lisa Snow Lady’s acrylic paintings and layered paper collages are influenced by her surroundings and portray the beauty found in everyday spaces. With colorful palettes of paint and paper, she elevates the ordinary with themes of gardens, interior spaces, and the surrounding Pacific Northwest landscape. Architectural elements are often featured in her work, creating a backdrop for the play of light and shadow. Lisa’s background in graphic design informs her strong sense of color, design and composition. A BA in Art History from the University of Washington has given her many artistic influences, but her favorites remain Vermeer, Bonnard, Vuillard, and Diebenkorn.
Lisa also holds a BFA in Painting from the University of Washington, and a degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Edmonds College. She continues to advance her education with workshops and classes, and she teaches Botanical Sketching through the UW Botanic Center and private and public gardens. In her long career as an artist, Lisa has won numerous awards and has been shown widely in the region. Swedish Medical Center in Ballard made purchased 25-painting of her paintings for their campus, and the University of Washington Medical Center, Evergreen Hospital, and Overlake Hospital also have her artwork in their collections.
